IHC adjourns hearing in SBP’s governor appointment case

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday adjourned the hearing in the case challenging the appointment of Tariq Bajwa as the Governor of State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) till Friday.

Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the case filed by 22 senators including Senator Taj Haider against the appointment of SBP Governor.

During the course of proceedings, the court directed the counsel for the petitioner Latif Khosa to give legal arguments on next date of hearing and adjourned the case till April 13.

As many as 22 senators of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) had challenged the appointment of Tariq Bajwa and requested the court to declare his appointment as null and void.
