MINGORA: An anti-terrorism court in Malakand division on Wednesday sentenced to death a man on three counts along with a fine of Rs600,000 for assaulting and killing a five-year-old girl, according to reports.
The 55-year-old convict, Jamaraz, had killed the girl after raping her on the roof of his house in the Shang area of Bisham tehsil on June 21, 2017.
The Bisham police had arrested the convict and a medical report confirmed the girl was assaulted by him. The convict had also recorded his confessional statement.
The FIR of the incident was registered under section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, and section 302 (intentional murder) and section 376 (rape) of Pakistan Penal Code.
A senior public prosecutor, Syed Naeem, who represented the state in the trial, said: “The anti-terrorism court sentenced the convict under section 376 to death and fined him Rs 200,000, sentenced him to death and fiend him Rs200,000 under 302, and also sentenced him to death and fined him Rs200,000 under section 7 of the ATA.”
Father of the deceased girl, Tariq Aziz, expressed satisfaction on the verdict and said that he was grateful to the police and other law enforcement agencies for supporting his case and ensuring that justice was served.
“My family will take a sigh of relief after the criminal is hanged,” he said.
