PTI unable to finalise candidates for NA, PA seats in Lahore

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has not been able to finalise its candidates for the seats across Lahore in National Assembly (NA) and Punjab Assembly (PA) ahead of the upcoming 2018 general elections.

According to sources inside the party, names of the PTI candidates could not be decided on 16 seats in NA as well as four that of PA. Three days are left in the meeting of PTI’s parliamentary board, however, the top-tier is yet to make consensus on all the names of the candidates across Lahore.

Sources told this scribe that there are more than one applicants for every single seat in the legislative assemblies. “PTI’s leadership has been trying to treat everyone equally, but if it announced the shortlisted names early then the party could face trouble inside,” it added.

It was said that there were an overwhelming number of applicants for the provincial assembly seats from PP-145 to PP-150. Moreover, candidates are yet to be shortlisted in PP-152, PP-155, PP-156, PP-162, PP-163, PP-165, PP-166, PP-168, PP-171, PP-173 and other constituencies.

On the other hand, the situation in the lower house of Parliament is not different as well. The party’s candidate for NA-123, NA-124, NA-126, NA-127, NA-134, and NA-136 are not decided yet.
