KARACHI: In another blow to Muthahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), Member National Assembly (MNA) Raza Anwar shifted loyalties to Pak Sarzameen Pakistan (PSP).
The internal conflicts continue to haunt MQM-P as seven more parliamentarians have left the party in last 10 days. Reportedly several more leaders are in contact with PSP leadership.
As per the sources, PSP has benefited greatly after the emergence of two factions-PIB and Bahadurabad-in MQM-P. “Mustafa Kamal’s party has received greater popularity after splits in MQM-P than it has in the past two years,” the sources said.
The top leaders of Rabita Committee are also reportedly in contact with PSP and party may grab opposition seats in Sindh Assembly due to these talks.
On April 1, MQM-P MNA from Hyderabad, Waseem Hussain, announced his decision to join PSP whereas earlier on March 29, MQM-P MNA Dr Fouzia Hameed changed alliances.
Before them, on March 28, two women provincial lawmakers of MQM-P MPAs Naheed Begum and Naila Munir had jumped ship.
Former MQM leader and Karachi mayor, Mustafa Kamal, had in March 2016 announced his own party, PSP, along with former MQM leader Anis Qaimkhani.
