SARGODHA: A college student in Sargodha was found dead on Monday after being allegedly kidnapped and raped, police told media.
Misbah, a resident of Moazzamabad village and first-year student at state-owned girls’ college in Kot Momin, was allegedly kidnapped a week ago by unidentified persons. Police located her body on Monday.
According to the autopsy, she was subjected to sexual abuse before being killed.
Further investigation into the incident is underway while local authorities have handed over the student’s body to her family. Police have registered a case against unknown persons and no suspects have been nominated yet.
CM TAKES NOTICE:
Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif took notice of the incident and sought a report from Sargodha DPO. He has also ordered to hold an investigation into the tragic incident, adding that a legal action should be initiated against those involved in the incident.
He said that provision of justice to the bereaved family would be ensured at every cost. He also extended his sympathies.
In late March, the body of a Faisalabad university student, Abida, was found in Dijkot area of the Faisalabad district, but police are yet to arrest the culprits behind the crime.
Abida, a student of MA English at Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF), went missing on March 25. Her dead body was recovered from Djikot, with initial post-mortem report suggesting she was raped before being murdered.
