NEW DELHI: The Delhi police have filed a charge sheet against an Indian Air Force (IAF) officer, who was arrested in February 2018 for being allegedly involved in espionage.

The charge sheet was filed before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Deepak Shehrawat in New Delhi against Group Captain Arun Marwaha, who was booked under the Official Secrets Act (OSA) for allegedly leaking classified documents to a woman through WhatsApp.

The court had put up the final report before taking further action on April 24. Per a complaint filed by IAF, Group Captain Marwaha was caught by the counter-intelligence wing after he was found carrying a high-end phone, which had been otherwise banned at the headquarters.

Punishment under the Official Secrets Act entails a jail term of up to seven years.
