FAISALABAD: Started two years ago, the construction of Child Protection Bureau (CPB) in Faisalabad is underway at snail’s pace as building is still incomplete.

Despite the investment of millions in the project, it is still facing continuous delays costing extra charges.

Spread on an area of over 38 kanals, the construction of the project started in March 2016 with an approximate cost of Rs 200million. Due to the continuous delays in the construction of new building, the department is suffering the loss of millions of rupees owing to the rent for the current building.

The project, located on Millat Road, was due to complete in one-and-a-half years but owing to administrative negligence, the project is still incomplete even after two years.

The purpose of the project is to provide abandoned and street children a safe and protected home where they could get proper education and indulge in co-curricular activities.

Despite the slow pace in its construction, the District Officer Child Protection claims that project is near completion. “The funds are being released on time, there is no delay and the project will be completed soon,” the district officer told media.
