ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Monday called for the implementation of the Billion Tree Tsunami project all over Pakistan, saying that the future generations will suffer heavily because of pollution and global warming unless pertinent actions are taken by the government.
In a tweet, the PTI chief said: “All Pakistan governments are to be blamed for the destruction of forests and tree cover in urban areas. Our future generations will suffer heavily through pollution and global warming unless we replicate KP’s Billion Tree Tsunami all over the country”.

Imran Khan’s claims come at a time when the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter has formed a four-member committee to probe into the alleged corruption in the Billion Tree Tsunami (BTT) project.
The committee will comprise a legal consultant and two investigation officers who will acquire all the record of the project from the KP Forest Department.
The committee headed by a grade-19 officer has initiated a consultation to begin probe against the former KP chief secretary and two additional chief secretaries.
All the opposition parties had accused the mega project of irregularities and corruption, after which NAB chairman Javed Iqbal had directed to probe the allegations.
