QUETTA: At least five Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were injured in a suicide attack on security force vehicle in the Quetta’s Baleli area on Monday.

According to police, the suicide bomber blew himself near FC vehicle when the security personnel were on a routine patrol near Baleli check post in Quetta.

The security forces cordoned off the incident site and a search operation was launched in the area. The injured FC men were shifted to Quetta CMH for treatment.

The director of civil defence, Aslam Tareen, confirmed that it was a suicide blast and that 8-10 kilogrammes of explosives were used in the attack. The age of the bomber seems to be around 20 to 22 years, Tareen said.

There has been no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, which destroyed the FC vehicle.

Baleli is considered to be one of the sensitive areas in Quetta.
