Will move NAB against Karachi Mayor: Fixit chief

KARACHI: Fixit founder Alamgir Khan on Sunday said that he would approach the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar.

He said this while speaking to the media outside Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) head office.

“We will approach NAB against Waseem Akhtar. There is garbage everywhere in Karachi and the mayor has failed to deliver,” Khan said.

He warned that they would not end their campaign till the city was cleared of trash.

Khan led a rally of dozens of his supporters from Tibet Centre to the mayor’s office. There were two garbage picking trucks with the rally as Khan had vowed to dump the city’s trash outside the KMC building to protest the mayor’s failure in cleaning the city. The trucks, however, were not offloaded.

The campaigners staged a protest outside the KMC building and chanted slogans against the mayor while holding placards and trash cans in their hands. No KMC official came to hold talks with the protestors who later dispersed peacefully. The protest suspended the traffic on the M A Jinnah Road for more than an hour while the police remained on high alert.

Khan’s Fixit campaign to cover unsealed manholes in Karachi gained media attention in 2016.
