LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday said that there was darkness everywhere when their party came into power in 2013, adding that the people would decide the extent to which they served the nation.

“There was darkness due to electricity shortage everywhere. Our government has completed electricity projects of thousands of megawatts in the last five years with the investment of billion rupees, which generate electricity for the whole Pakistan,” he told a party rally in Kamalia tehsil of Toba Tek Singh.

He also attacked Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), calling out their chairman’s ‘negative style’ of politics, and saying that Imran Khan-led party’s ‘attempts to spread anarchy’ are a conspiracy against the people of the country.

“Imran Khan’s ‘dharna politics’ is not just a conspiracy against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) but it is also a conspiracy against the people [of this country],” the chief minister.

Resolving to put an end to such politics, Shehbaz said Imran Khan’s politics revolved around lies, attacks on institutions and slander.

“We will have to end personal conflicts, false accusations, and blame games, if we are to achieve Quaid’s vision of Pakistan,” the PML-N president continued.

“Islamabad sit-in was a conspiracy against masses. The politics of PTI revolved around chaos, conspiracies, hurling fake allegations and abuses. We will bury politics of PTI in general polls 2018”, said Sharif while adding, “We have to end personal conflicts if we want to pull country out of poverty”.

Highlighting the progress achieved during the past five years under PML-N’s tenure, Shehbaz vowed that load-shedding would be eliminated by the end of 2018.

“Progress achieved during PML-N’s tenure has never before been witnessed in Pakistan’s history,” he said, pointing out that before 2013, the public suffered load shedding extending to 22 hours each day.

“Load shedding would be eliminated by the end of this year, and it will never return again,” he promised.

Since 2013, when PML-N came to power, it has invested in thousands of megawatts of power, he said.

The minister vowed that if given another chance at government, the party would bring the Metro Bus service to Faisalabad.
