Services of DIG Operations Haider Ashraf likely to be handed over to centre

LAHORE: Lahore Police Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations of Dr Haider Ashraf is likely to be posted in the centre for which Punjab Public Service Commission sent a summary of recommendation to the chief minister, Pakistan Today has learnt.

After the formal approval by Shehbaz Sharif, Dr Ashraf will be relieved from Punjab.

According to details, his services will be handed over to the federal government. Sources told this scribe that Dr Ashraf had requested a two-year leave for his foreign trip, adding that he would be acquiring further higher education after flying to the United Kingdom (UK) on April 22.

Sources further added that Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rana Ayaz Saleem will be given the position of DIG after which several Station House Officers (SHOs) will face reshuffling. There will be large-scale changes made in the police force ahead of the 2018 general elections, it added.

Sources privy to the developments claimed that Shehbaz Sharif had decided to make major changes in the positioning of seniors police officers in Lahore. Prominent officers including Lahore CCPO Amin Awais and CTO Roy Ejaz will be reshuffled from their posts, sources say.

On the other hand, important meetings have been carried out for the purpose of replacing several secretaries, including public health secretary Khurram Agha and information secretary Mian Ishtiaq.

Sources claimed that such changes would help the ruling PML-N in securing its election triumph.
