ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to provide electric wheelchairs to handicapped male and female students of universities across the country.
The government, in this regard, directed concerned authorities to provide an amount of Rs 140 million, APP reported on Sunday.
Sharing the details of project, it reported that the government, under Prime Minister Youth Programme, has taken the decision to provide modern wheelchairs to the public sector universities and degree-awarding educational institutions registered by the HEC.
The other purpose of the project is to give importance to their role in the development of the country by supporting them in their attainment of education.
In the first phase, around 300 wheelchairs would be provided. The HEC will issue the advertisements besides finalising the criteria for the deserving students.
