Kyrgyzstan marked the eighth anniversary of its April Revolution on Saturday.

President Sooronbai Jeenbekov and Prime Minister Sapar Isakov attended a commemoration ceremony at the Ata-Beyit memorial complex in Chong-Tash, a village south of Bishkek.

In his public address, the president said the revolution in 2010 saw the nation take a historic turn, going from a dead-end to a bright future.

Commemorations also took place in all regional centers.

The April Revolution was two days of violent protests on April 6-7, 2010, leading to the ouster of then President Kurmanbek Bakiyev.
