ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Friday reached Afghanistan.
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani received PM Abbasi at a reception being held in his honour at the Afghan Presidential Palace. The premier was presented with a Guard of Honour.
National Security Adviser Nasser Janjua, Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra are accompanying the premier on his day-long visit to the Afghan capital
The delegation will hold talks with Ghani, Afghan Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah and other senior officials in the Afghan capital on Friday.
The talks will focus on strengthening bilateral political, economic, security and counter-terrorism cooperation, return of Afghan refugees, combating drug production and narco-trade, the Afghan peace process and regional political and security situation.
Abbasi will be seeking to lessen mistrust with Afghanistan, whose leadership has repeatedly held Pakistan responsible for allegedly offering safe haven to leaders of the Afghan Taliban and Haqqani Network.
Pakistan, in turn, accuses Afghanistan of not doing enough against Pakistan Taliban, known by the acronym TTP, fighters.
Last month, Ghani offered to open negotiations with the Afghan Taliban despite ongoing attacks “without preconditions”.
Our PM is so dumb that Ashraf Ghani had to guide him the way Gen Bajwa did on 23 March Parade.
