ISLAMABAD: Responding to former premier Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz’s demand of live broadcast of the corruption trial, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry on Thursday urged the father-daughter duo to now stick to their words and submit a request within 72 hours.

Earlier on Wednesday, Maryam after the commencement of the day’s hearing had tweeted that she wished for the proceedings to be broadcast live so that the whole country can see the truth for themselves.

Additionally, while addressing a gathering of PML-N supporters in Samundri in Faisalabad district, the deposed premier said: “I want them [his court hearings] to be shown live on television so people can see there is nothing in them. It’s based on a lie and it’s being exposed in the court on a daily basis.”

“It’s a fraud, go and watch for yourself,” he had told his supporters.

“The father and daughter were demanding yesterday that the proceedings they have been appearing for should be aired live,” said Fawad in a video message on Thursday.

“But today when the accountability proceedings resumed, the lawyers for Nawaz and Maryam did not utter a word regarding the matter,” he said.

“Nawaz and his daughter would never want the accountability proceedings to be aired live,” opined Fawad.

Fawad further claimed that “the sole purpose of threatening and giving enraged speeches in public gatherings and the media is to spread confusion and tension.”

The PTI leader said that the duo was hoodwinking the nation with their words as cases against the ruling family were being proven true one after the other.

“First Nawaz’s children said they do not own the properties, even the one in London, which are stated in the corruption references against them. Nawaz even refused of owning the offshore companies,” said Fawad and added, “But, his claims were proven wrong after the UK registry showed its records.”

He said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders had pulled an axe on their feet with their words.

“PML-N and the former premier have been caught in their own web,” asserted Fawad.

“They do not know how to free themselves and also do not have responses to questions being posed to them in the court,” he concluded.
