ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Russia have agreed to enhance military and naval cooperation starting with training personnel of the armed forces and conducting joint military exercises.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between Defence Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan and his Russian counterpart General Sergey Shoygu in Moscow on Thursday.
Both ministers met on the sidelines of the Moscow Security Conference. They also held discussions on international issues, particularly regarding the efforts being made to establish sustainable peace in Afghanistan, opening of energy corridors and combating violent extremism in the region.
Both sides reviewed the positive developments that have taken place as a result of the unprecedented Pak-Russia agreement on military cooperation in 2014.
The ministers also decided to increase the number of delegations so as to discuss Pak-Russia defence matters in a comprehensive way.
