LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Multan on Thursday arrested Asif Kamal for corruption of Rs 320 million in MEPCO after dismissal of his bail before arrest from the high court.
According to NAB sources, the Lahore High Court (LHC) Multan bench dismissed the bail application of the Trust Investment Bank Limited Board of Directors (BoD) owner and chairman, who was one of the accused in the NAB reference about corruption of Rs 320 million.
The accused would be presented in the accountability court for his physical remand.
Accused Asif Kamal had deposited Rs 200 million in 2011-12 and he had looted the money with the help of former MEPCO CEO Chaudhry Guftar Ahmed, former MEPCO finance director Syed Mushtaq Hussain Bukhari and other officers.
MEPCO did not receive any profit or get the investment back.
Ahmed and Bukhari had already been arrested by NAB on October 3, 2017 and their bail applications had been dismissed by the apex court.
