Axact fake degree case adjourned till Monday

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday adjourned the federation’s appeal against the trial court’s judgment in the Axact fake degree scandal case till Monday (April 9).

An IHC bench, comprising of Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, heard the case.

During the proceedings, Justice Minallah observed that the court would decide the matter after examining all aspects of the case on merit. He asked the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to satisfy the bench regarding the application of the Cyber Crime Act in this particular case.

Raja Rizwan Abbasi, counsel for the Axact company, contended that the sections included in the first information report (FIR) against Axact did not pertain to the charges. The prosecution had not pointed out any irregularity during the trial, he said. He requested the bench to decide the matter on its own.

The court directed FIA to complete its arguments on the next hearing.
