KARACHI: Police held a seminary teacher in Karachi over allegedly raping and blackmailing a girl.
According to media reports on Wednesday, Korangi SHO Inayatullah Marwat said the 60-year-old Madrassah teacher was arrested over charges of rape and blackmail. He raped the girl and blackmailed her parents for money by warning them that he would make her videos public, the police official said.
The Korangi SHO also told media that the incident took place four years ago and only came to light when the girl’s parents filed a complaint. The girl is married and has a son, he added.
Karachi police filed the case after the parents lodged a complaint. The FIR was registered under section 376 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) which relates to punishment for rape.
The 60-year-old religious teacher reportedly gave Quran lessons in a Madrassah situated in Korangi-3 area.
