Pakistan to raise issue of Indian brutalities in IOK at all forums

ISLAMABAD: The civil and military leadership of the country on Wednesday vowed to continue Pakistan’s political, diplomatic and moral support for the people of Indian occupied Kashmir (IOK) in their legitimate struggle for self-determination as promised by the United Nations (UN) Security Council resolutions.

The meeting also decided to raise the issue of unprecedented Indian brutalities in IOK at bilateral and multilateral forums.

In an emergency meeting of the top decision-making body, namely National Security Committee (NSC), the leadership condemned in the strongest terms the recent reign of terror unleashed by the Indian security forces in occupied Kashmir, which resulted in the martyrdom of 20 innocent civilians while critically injuring hundreds of innocent men, women and children. The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

The meeting was held to denounce the ongoing Indian oppression against the freedom-loving people of occupied Kashmir as Indian security forces recently injured over 250 youth and suspended all forms of communications in a bid to distort international opinion on the unresolved Kashmir issue.

The 20th meeting of NSC held at Prime Minister’s House was also attended by Minister for Foreign Affairs Khawaja Asif, Minister for Interior Ahsan Iqbal, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance Miftah Ismail, Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Chairman General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi, Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Director General Lieutenant General Naveed Mukhtar, National Security Adviser (NSA) Lieutenant General (r) Nasser Khan Janjua and senior civil and military officials.

The committee noted with concern that the incessant use of pellet guns against innocent protestors and those participating in funeral processions by the occupation force had once again injured hundreds of Kashmiris while blinding many others. The NSC praised the extraordinary courage and resilience of the Kashmiri people in the face of Indian brutalities, including gross and systematic violations of human rights.

The committee observed that the purely indigenous character of this uprising had once again revealed the truth behind the false propaganda initiated by the Indian government in connection with the Kashmir issue. The committee reviewed the broader regional situation and expressed satisfaction over the role that Pakistan continued to play its role in establishing peace and stability in the region.
