ISPR DG takes down Gambhir, Indian media for talking against Afridi

LAHORE: Hard hitter cricket all-rounder Shahid Afridi on Tuesday drew ire of the cricketers, stars and media across the border when he tweeted condemning the Indian atrocities in Occupied Kashmir.

Urging the United Nation (UN) to intervene, Afridi wrote, ” Appalling and worrisome situation ongoing in the Indian Occupied Kashmir. Innocents being shot down by oppressive regime to clamp voice of self-determination and independence. Wonder where is the UN & other international bodies and why aren’t they making efforts to stop this bloodshed?”

His statement, however, faced criticism in India as batsman Gautam Gambhir criticised the all-rounder stating that he is “celebrating a dismissal off a no- ball!!!”

Replying Gambhir, DG ISPR Asif Ghafoor, on his personal twitter account, shared a video of Asia Cup match in which Afridi won the match for Pakistan against India by hitting two consecutive sixes.

Major General Ghafoor wrote: “And that’s how Shahid Afridi did.”

In the second tweet, the DG ISPR shared a picture of Afridi-Ghambir on-field altercation and said, “And that’s the way for you.”

In his third tweet, he also responded to an Indian article about Afridi being “roasted online” stating, No one can! Especially you. Please locate fire locally and read complete. @SAfridiOfficial is our national pride and voice!!”

Meanwhile, Afridi who retweeted Asif Ghafoor’s tweets also shared his picture with Indian fans holding their flag and wrote: “We respect all. And this is an example as sportsman. But when it comes to human rights we expect the same for our innocent Kashmiris.”

On Sunday, at least 19 Kashmiri civilians were killed by Indian military forces during a search operation.

  1. The image looks more like …two eager sons clinging to their dear father for some approval and love.

  2. Is everything in Pakistan is getting fake? otherwise how a top Pakistani newspaper can write that 19 civilians killed. If you do not like to tell them terrorist you can tell them militants but should report that 13 of them are militants or armed rebels and 4 civilians and do not know who the other 2 are. Spreading lies will take Pakistan nowhere, you should also note that on the very next day multiple organisations and individuals of Pakistan were declared on the list of terrorist of terrorist organization, by the way we will keep our country intact by whatever means possible, Pakistan can do nothing except begging for money with international community like IMF now and then.

  3. Pakistan Today…I know most readers in Pakistani doesn’t know a word of English but if you’re a genuine print media and have the guts then show the responses that this Ghafoor joker got on Twitter…lol…shameless folks with 139 people on UN terror list
