Pakistani, Turkish foreign ministers discuss situation in occupied Kashmir

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif telephoned his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu on Tuesday and discussed the current situation in Indian occupied Kashmir (IOK) with him.

The Turkish foreign minister said, “We are deeply worried and saddened about the casualties that took place after Sunday’s clashes in occupied Kashmir.”

He said that the necessary precautions should be taken to ensure that the tension in the region is reduced immediately and that the civilians are provided urgent medical care.

Meanwhile, the Minister for Kashmir Affairs Chaudhry Muhammad Barjees Tahir said that Pakistan would continue extending political, moral and diplomatic support to the people of occupied Kashmir and would never isolate them in testing times.

Talking to Pakistan Television, he said the international community should play its due role for resolving the Kashmir issue in accordance with the United Nations (UN) resolutions.

He said that Pakistan would stand with the Kashmiri people in their struggle for self- determination.
