ISLAMABAD: The sub-committee of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Monday directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) not to extend the contract with Monal Restaurant, saying that the 2021 contract should be auctioned in the open bid.
The committee meeting was held under the convenorship of the member of National Assembly (MNA) Mian Abdul Mannan at the Parliament House, Islamabad.
Discussing the issue of Monal Restaurant, the committee members said illegal handing over of land by CDA to Monal Restaurant was draining the national exchequer.
The committee also recommended to the Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) to reinvestigate the matter of Monal Restaurant and asked CDA to present its report within 14 days.
Audit officials told the committee that in 2007, CDA had given the land of parks for the restaurant which was a violation of the rules.
CDA officials were of opinion that the land given to the restaurant was provided under public welfare and FIA had cleared the matter after an investigation.
