Following child murder, Faisalabad observes city-wide strike

FAISALABAD:  Following the murder of seven-year-old Mubashra and police’s inability to arrest the suspects, protests broke out in Faisalabad on Tuesday as it was not the first such incident in recent days.

Residents of Jaranwala area held a complete shutter-down strike, the local markets and shops were closed down for the day.

The protesters blocked the road and burnt the tyres with local bar association calling on all lawyers to boycott court proceedings. Meanwhile, private schools association also called for a complete shutdown of all private schools in the city.

On Monday, the dead body of the minor, allegedly raped and killed, was recovered from fields adjacent to the Jaranwala area of the city.

On Tuesday, the post-mortem report of the child confirmed that minor was raped and tortured before being killed.

Seven-year-old minor went missing on Sunday, and her tortured dead body was found from Islampura area of the city next morning.

The autopsy report mentioned that 21 torture marks were found on child’s body. The medical supervisor Dr Tariq, however, said that cause of death is still ascertained, adding more test will be conducted for this.

 

The funeral of the second-grade student was held on later on Monday.

Last week, the dead body of 25-year-old Abida Ahmad, MA English student of Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF),  was recovered from the city canal after she went missing.

Her post-mortem report also confirmed rape and torture before the murder.

33 MURDERS, 36 RAPES IN LAST THREE MONTHS: 

According to the local police report, 33 women were murdered while 36 were raped in Faisalabad in last three months.
