KARACHI: Sindh Bar Council (SBC) on Monday expressed deep concern over the recent political developments, and institutional tussle saying that they pose a threat to the supremacy of constitution and rule of law in Pakistan.
According to details, the SBC held a press conference which was addressed by council’s Vice Chairman Salahuddin Khan Gandapur.
He said that all organs of the state must remain within their prescribed limits and avoid unnecessary statements, speeches and comments.
He opined that excessive activism creates controversy and invites public and political response and thus becomes harmful for the prestige and public perception of judiciary.
According to him, the recent developments pose a serious threat to the constitution and judiciary.
He raised a question that challenging the appointment of Justice Faez Essa is a mere coincident or an attempt by non-democratic forces to intimidate independent Judges.
He also showed concern over certain banner and posters displayed in the premises of High Court, as well as, in the city.
