LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday stayed the process for appointment of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) vice chancellor (VC).
Justice Muhammad Farrukh Irfan Khan passed the directives on petitions filed by Muhammad Sarwar and others, challenging the process for appointment of the Agriculture University Faisalabad VC. The court also sought a reply from the Punjab government till April 23.
During the hearing, petitioners’ counsel Owais Khalid contended that the search committee constituted for the selection of a permanent VC was illegal as it did not have any agriculture expertise.
He further submitted that all search committees reserved 35 marks for interview whereas the search committee for the selection of the Agriculture University’s VC reserved 50 marks for interview, which was a discriminatory step.
At this, the court stayed the selection process and sought a reply from the government while adjourning the hearing.
