Gulalai asked to tender apology to Manzoor Pashteen or face legal proceedings

ISLAMABAD: Member National Assembly (MNA) Ayesha Gulalai on Monday was served a legal notice seeking a written apology within 14 days for using defamatory language against Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) and its head Manzoor Pashteen without any proof or else be ready to face legal proceedings.

Ayesha Gulalai was served a legal notice for her press conference on March 31, 2018 in which she called Manzoor Pashteen an agent of India’s primary foreign intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing and Afghanistan’s Intelligence agency, National Directorate of Security (NDS).

The legal notice signed by Advocate Fazal Rehman Wazir, Razaullah Khan, Saifullah and Yasir Rauf stated, “We the undersigned, watched your press conference on different news channels dated 31-03-2018, whereby you were using defamatory language against PTM, as well as, Manzoor Pashteen without any proof and reality.”

The notice further reads: “We being members of PTM have ensued action against you because of your defamatory language which caused mental agony and torture due to scandalous and defamatory remarks which have caused irretrievable and colossal damage to the service, social life and personal image of Manzoor Pashteen and PTM members in the eyes of the public, which cannot be measured in terms of money.”

“You are hereby required to tender a written apology on both the electronic and print media within 14 days after the receipt of this notice otherwise civil and criminal legal proceedings may be initiated against you entirely at your risk and costs,” demanded the notice.

It is pertinent to mention here that on March 31, Gulalai levelled serious allegations against PTM and its head Manzoor Pashteen, which triggered a strong reaction against her over social media and accused her of making such ‘attention seeking’ comments to remain alive in media irrespective of its consequences.
