ISLAMABAD: Ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to form an electoral alliance with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in a bid to bring ‘political martial law’ in the country, sources confirmed to Pakistan Today.

The major development comes just a day after the PTI chief had ruled out forming an alliance with PML-N and PPP, calling the leaders of both parties, Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari, “corrupt”.

A senior PML-N leader, who is not too happy with the development, told Pakistan Today that both the major parties have also agreed to form an alliance with the ruling party, while questioning, “who will be in the opposition now?”

The leader further said the “continuous intervention by judiciary and another state institution into domestic politics has forced the political leadership to unite”.

Talking to Pakistan Today, a PTI leader said that political parties are forming an alliance for the betterment of the country and to ensure that all institutions work within their constitutional limits, and termed it a “political martial law”.

The PTI leader also informed that the meeting between PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and Imran Khan will be held later in the day to discuss the matter further.

A source privy to the development told your correspondent that “the idea of a political martial law sounds fantastic to rival the judicial and ‘real’ martial laws”, and added that all major parties would have no qualms about it if it was a real thing, instead of a Fool’s Day prank.
