ISLAMABAD: The Airport Security Force (ASF) on Sunday arrested a British national in a bid to smuggle 1.75kg heroin in his shoes at Benazir International Airport, Islamabad.
ASF foiled the smuggling attempt and arrested the suspect.
According to airport officials, the accused identified as Asif Khan, was en route to England on flight PK 785. During a search, the heroin was recovered from his shoes. The accused was detained and handed over to Anti Narcotics Force.
On January 15, the customs officers arrested a man from Islamabad airport who was trying to smuggle drugs worth almost Rs15 million to United Arab Emirates (UAE). The man identified as Kennedy Brian, a resident of Lahore, was trying to smuggle 1,635 grammes through his shoes.
Further, on January 10, a foreign woman was arrested from Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, after she tried to smuggle 9kg heroin.
