Pakistan to be declared polio-free country soon, claims minister

FAISALABAD: State Minister for Commerce and Textile Industry Haji Muhammad Akram Ansari on Saturday claimed that Pakistan will soon be declared as a polio-free country because of the continues and committed efforts by the current government.

He, however, added that private sector has to play its role for rehabilitation of polio infested children.

Inaugurating a polio rehabilitation center in Surayya Majeed Hospital, the minister said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is working hard to provide health facilities to the poor citizens of the country.

“It is encouraging that NGOs and local philanthropists are playing their part for the development of health sector,” Ansari said, appreciating Platinum Lions Club for playing its role in the establishment of the rehabilitation center.

The minister said that regular anti-polio drives were launched across the country in last few years and children were administered free polio drops. “These campaigns have been started at the national level with help of health ministry and all relevant authorities,” he stated.
