Faisalabad university student’s murderer still at large

FAISALABAD: Three days have passed since the dead body of Faisalabad university student, Abida, was found in Dijkot city of Faisalabad district, but police have yet to arrest the culprits behind the case.

Abida, a student of MA English at Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF), went missing on March 25. Her dead body was recovered from Djikot, with initial post-mortem report suggesting she was raped before being murdered.

Police inaction has led to a protest by the class-fellows of Abida, who came out to the streets demanding justice.

Raising slogans, the protestors demanded those responsible for this heinous crime should be arrested immediately and given an exemplary punishment.

Meanwhile, social media users are using the hashtag #JusticeForAbida on Twitter to demand swift action against the culprit(s).

The National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) took notice of the incident and summoned a report from DPO.

Police have stated that they have arrested a few suspects with the help of deceased’s mobile phone data but no concrete development has been made in the case yet.

Abida’s DNA samples have been sent to  Lahore Forensic Laboratory.
