KARACHI: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar ordered the concerned authorities to take down all posters in Karachi complimenting him for his services.
The CJP issued the order while hearing the suo motu notice pertaining to the lack of clean water for the residents at the Supreme Court’s Karachi registry on Saturday.
Moreover, the chief justice warned those who were placing posters to praise him across the metropolis. Ordering an immediate removal of the posters, the CJP said he was not anticipating that the people could do such a thing.
Justice Nisar said that no one would “even remember his name” after retirement.
A number of posters commending the CJP and bearing his picture have mushroomed across Karachi ever since he took suo motu notices “to provide basic rights to the people of Sindh”. These posters were put up by different lawyers’ groups and Sindh Doctors Forum.
While some posters call him the last hope, others thank his significant steps to offer justice. “Justice, not politics. For the battle of people’s rights, we are with you Saqib Nisar,” reads one poster.
Meanwhile, talking about the issue of unavailability of water in Karachi, the CJP said that the water commission’s report would be evaluated and scrutinised, stating, “I feel like there has been some progress on the matter.”
He assured that he could sit in Karachi every day to provide justice and help make progress in the cases.
