BEIJING: Pakistan and China shared an all-weather partnership and the defence and military cooperation between the two countries would help maintain regional and international peace and security, Chinese Ministry of National Defence Spokesperson Colonel Ren Guoqiang said on Thursday.
“China and Pakistan share an all-weather partnership. We maintain high levels of defence and military exchange and cooperation,” he said while responding to a question during his monthly briefing.
The spokesperson expressed confidence that Pakistan-China military exchange and cooperation would help facilitate state-to-state cooperation between the two countries.
Ren Guoqiang said that this exchange and cooperation would also maintain regional and international peace and stability.
Regarding military exchanges and joint exercises between the two countries in the future, he said that both the countries had been discussing it.
Earlier in March, a Hong Kong-based newspaper reported that Pakistan had acquired a powerful tracking system that could speed up the military’s development of multi-warhead missiles. The report stated that the tracking system could allow Islamabad to speed up the development of a missile that could target multiple cities or military sites.
Last year in September, the air forces of both countries conducted a joint training exercise titled “Shaheen VI” in China, followed by a joint naval exercise between the navies of the two countries in December.
