ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Thursday took a suo motu notice of the reported closing down of Bone Marrow Transplant Centre (BMTC) at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
The notice was taken on an application submitted by parents of the children being treated at the hospital.
According to the application, the bone marrow transplant centre was the only cure available to children with Thalassaemia major and around 500 children were on the waiting list for transplants.
Taking notice of the issue, the chief justice sought a report from the Ministry of Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) secretary within three days.
