Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Zubair Mahmood Hayat on Thursday met Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi in Cairo. The meeting came in wake of Sisi being elected as the president after securing 92 per cent votes to reinstate him for the second term in power.
Egyptian Defence Minister Sedki Sobhy and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Egypt Mushtaq Ali was also present on the occasion.
During the meeting Egypt’s President appreciated the historical relations between the two countries, expressing his aspiration to enhance mutual cooperation with Pakistan in various fields, official spokesman for the president Bassam Rady said.
Sisi conveyed his intention to promote coordination and consultations with Pakistan over regional issues, particularly in combating terrorism.
General Zubair expressed his joy in visiting Egypt and stressed the depth of relations between Pakistan and Egypt. He appreciated the economic reforms currently being carried out Egypt including a number of development and national projects aimed at achieving a comprehensive development in the country.
He stressed that Egypt’s stability is indispensable for the Arab Region’s stability.
