LAHORE: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has sacked Associate Secretary Khalid Bashir for repeatedly violating the federation’s code of conduct.
While speaking during a PHF Executive Board meeting at the PMDC Office in Islamabad on Thursday, PHF President Muhammad Khalid Khokhar accused Bashir of continuously violating the code of conduct and issuing statements against the federation’s policies. He said that his removal was initiated on disciplinary grounds. Members of the executive board unanimously endorsed the decision.
The meeting was also attended by PHF Secretary, all provincial secretaries, PHF Women’s Wing Chairperson Khushbakht Shujat, PHF Vice-President Muhammad Saeed Khan, Army Sports Directorate Director Brig Ghulam Jilani and Technocrats Syed Musaddiq Hussain, Naveed Alam and Qasim Khan.
Meanwhile, Khokhar also said that PHF management intends to make the existing system of scrutiny and elections as transparent as possible for the betterment and uplift of the sport.
He said that scrutiny and elections will be conducted for which the dates will be announced shortly. PHF Secretary deliberated on the agenda points and announced an Interclub Championship at the district level on April 30, 2018, under respective Provincial Hockey Associations (PHA).
It was also decided that a system has to be devised for a club to qualify for acquiring voting rights. Certain measures were discussed by the house for the betterment of hockey at club level.
