ISLAMABAD: The National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) Pakistan on Thursday has taken a suo moto notice of a transgender person’s murder in Peshawar.

The commission has asked for an investigative report to be submitted by April 3 by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) inspector general.

On Tuesday, transgender Daniyal alias Chutki was shot fatally along with a friend Aizaz, while they were travelling on a rickshaw from Iqbal Plaza to Patang Chowk via Ring Road.

The incident is just another drop in the ocean as dozens of transgenders have been murdered in Peshawar in the past few years.

Local rights group TransAction Alliance says that 55 transgender persons have been killed in Peshawar over the past three years.
