Another MQM-P member joins Kamal’s PSP

KARACHI: Another member of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) joined former Karachi mayor Mustafa Kamal’s political party Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) on Thursday.

Dr Fauzia Hameed, Member of National Assembly (MNA), was elected as a candidate of MQM-P on a reserved seat for women from Sindh in general elections 2013.

While talking to the press conference, PSP Chairman Mustafa Kamal stated that he had no idea that his party will be this successful in such short time. “We never thought that we will get this kind of support,” he said.

The former Karachi mayor said that the party faced different allegations but didn’t budge from its manifesto. “We are working for the welfare of people of Karachi,” Kamal added, claiming that the people of every ethnicity were supporting his party.

He mentioned that he generously invited all from the Bahadurabad and PIB factions to come forward and join PSP. “Together we all shall work for the welfare of people…PSP strongly condemns hatred politics,” he said.

The newly-made member of PSP said that everyone in MQM was looking for own benefit, adding that her previous party had no concern for the welfare of the people of Karachi. “I have joined PSP for the betterment of my city, province & country. Because I know that Mustafa Kamal hears out everyone,” she added.

Dr Fauzia told media that Mustafa Kamal had built a consensus within his party which was one of his best traits, highlighting that it sanctioned to struggle setbacks and to learn so that one could move forward.

On Wednesday, two former members of Muthahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) joined Pak Sar Zameen Party (PSP) on Wednesday.

Naheed Begum, a Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) of Sindh from constituency PSW-153 and Naila Munir, an MPA on the reserved seat for women from RSW-155, announced they are joining former Karachi mayor Mustafa Kamal’s party during a press conference in the metropolitan city.
