LAHORE/KARACHI: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday moved resolutions in the Punjab and Sindh provincial assemblies condemning Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s remarks against Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani and demanded an apology from him.
In the resolution passed in the Punjab Assembly by PTI’s Murad Raas, it was demanded that PM Abbasi present an explanation on his refusal to meet the Senate chairman and his call for a re-election.
“Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is not just the prime minister of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N). He is prime minister of the nation. By virtue of his rank, the PM is bound to honour parliamentary ethics and seeking a re-election is unconstitutional,” Raas said.
PTI leader Khurram Sherzaman also submitted a resolution in Sindh Assembly demanding the prime minister tender an apology for his remarks against the Senate chairman. The resolution demanded the PM apologise to Sanjrani and the people of Balochistan and retract his remarks.
Sherzaman said that his party had taken a stand on the under-representation of Balochistan. “There is a profound sense of deprivation in Balochistan and even the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) voted for Sanjrani,” he said.
Sherzaman said that the role of all legislators allegedly involved in horse trading in Senate election should be probed. He added that the PTI had always striven to represent the people in the Parliament.
A person who doesn’t deserve to be the Prime Minister and who shamelessly claims that he is not the PM and who is also guilty of helping a criminal to escape from the country had the audacity to pass adverse comments on a respectable Chairman of Senate. This man is also to be indicted in LNG scam. I would recommend Hon’ ble CJ to avoid meeting with such nefarious creatures.
