Committee formed to probe Jaranwala child molestation incidents

LAHORE: On the directives issued by Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif, a four-member committee has been constituted to probe the incidents of child molestation in Jaranwala.

Chief Minister’s Inspection Team (CMIT) Chairman Abdul Jabbar Shaheen will head the committee which also includes Sheikhupura regional police officer (RPO) Zulfiqar Hameed, an expert of Punjab Forensic Science Agency and Punjab police officer.

According to the press statement, the committee will collect data on the incidents of child molestation to unveil those elements involved. The committee will also identify negligence of the local police to recommend action in this regard.

The four-member committee will submit its report within three days.

On Monday, Punjab CM had taken notice of the Jaranwala video scandal involving a paedophile group. According to details, an eight-member group allegedly raped minor children and recorded their videos to blackmail the victims and their families.
