NASC asks Ministry of Religious Affairs to submit details on Katas Raj pond: report

KARACHI: The Ministry of Religious Affairs has been asked by the National Assembly Standing Committee (NASC) on Religious Affairs, regarding the dried-up Katas Raj pond, a local media outlet reported.

MNA Shagufta Jumani, while chairing the parliamentary panel, expressed grave concerns over the issue, asked that under whose under instructions were no objection certificates (NOCs) issued in 2006 to cement factories to operate in the area due to which the well-known Indian pilgrimage site had been damaged.

The committee’s chairperson said that it was shocking to see that the owners of the factories drew water through the bore walls while leaving it beautiful pond dry.
