QUETTA: Member of provincial assembly (MPA) from National Party Khalid Langav strongly protested when Abdul Wasay started his address in the Balochistan Assembly on Tuesday. The proceedings of the house were disturbed after the two members exchanged harsh words with each other.

During his speech, Wasay said that baseless allegations were being levelled against him as certain quarters were branding him as an ally of the incumbent government.

Wasay further said that despite being in the opposition, his party showed immense tolerance and cooperated with other lawmakers despite lack of quorum, adding that his party took these steps so that all hurdles in the way of legislation could be removed.

Talking about the dissolution of Balochistan Assembly, he said there was a revolt in the assembly due to the failed policies of the government, and when their own members quarrelled amongst themselves, the government ended.

He said that he had supported the idea of serving the people from day one. He also claimed that his party laid a vast network of colleges, universities, roads and provided drinking water to the people during their rule.

Meanwhile, MPA Khalid Langav rose from his seat and strongly protested against the speech. He said that talking about the finance scandal all the time was not a good approach. Anyone found involved in corruption would be punished, he added.

On the other hand, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) MPA Mufti Gulab cut Langav’s counter-speech short, after which the two MPAs exchanged harsh words with each other.

The speaker adjourned the proceedings till March 30. The two quarrelling MPAs were escorted out of the house from two separate doors to avoid any confrontation.

Before ending its session, the Balochistan Assembly had admitted an adjournment motion to be taken up for discussion on March 30.

On the occasion, MPA Rehmat Saleh Baloch said in his adjournment motion that in 2014-15, the government had decided to appoint teachers through the National Testing Service (NTS) but no results have been achieved in this regard so far.

Baloch said that candidates who secured first positions were not appointed at the Union Councils level, despite repeated assurances from the authorities concerned. The present government had earlier announced that candidates who have passed NTS should submit their documents for jobs, but not a single promise was fulfilled by the officials concerned.

He also said that most of these candidates included disabled persons and women. He said the government should issue orders for their appointment in Union Councils at the earliest.

On the other hand, the education minister, while assuring the house of resolving the issue, said that orders of 180 candidates were issued by a court, adding that the candidates were being posted to their respective districts. In addition, around 15,000 candidates have deposited applications in this connection, he said.
