ISLAMABAD: The probe committee formed to scrutinise the funding sources of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will start investigations on April 3, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said on Tuesday.

A five-member bench of the ECP headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan heard PTI’s foreign funding case in Islamabad earlier on Tuesday.

The CEC said that two members of the probe committee have excused themselves from being a part of the committee, therefore two new members of the committee will be appointed in the next two days.

The PTI’s defamation claim against Akbar S Babar has also been delegated to the committee.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has submitted its response in the foreign funding allegations levelled against it and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) by the PTI.

The ECP has set May 3 for the hearing of the cases.
