LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday said that expatriate Pakistanis were great ambassadors of the country, and solving their problems on priority basis was the responsibility of the state.

While talking to a delegation of overseas Pakistanis in London, Shehbaz said the Punjab government, in this regard, had established the Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC), which was efficiently working to fulfill the duty of protecting the rights of the overseas Pakistanis.

“The commission has emerged as a strong symbol of protection of properties and other assets of Pakistanis living abroad, and the establishment of this vibrant department has ensured finding a solution to the expatriates’ problems. The establishment of the OPC is a great example of public service,” he added.

The commission’s performance, with regard to solving the problems of overseas Pakistanis, was commendable, said the chief minister and added that the OPC had set an example of teamwork and served the people by breaking the barriers of lust, fear or greed.

He maintained that the overseas Pakistanis had played an important role in the strengthening of the national economy. “They have proved their mettle in different sectors of life across the globe,” said Shehbaz.

“The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government has served the masses selflessly and the people will always remember that the PML-N-led government served them with commitment, sincerity and truth,” he concluded.

Separately, Shehbaz said that the successful holding of Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in Pakistan was a victory of the 200 million Pakistanis and the nation’s determination, spirit and commitment had delivered a clear message to the enemies.

“After Lahore, the peaceful holding of PSL-3’s final in Karachi has proved that Pakistanis love sports and irrespective of the final match’s results, Pakistan has won,” he added.

The whole nation, he said, had given invaluable sacrifices for maintaining peace, and due to these efforts, sporting activities had been restored in the country. “It is my utmost conviction that difficulties would cease if we continue to work with determination. With the grace of Allah, Pakistan has achieved success and like PSL-2, the PSL-3 too has been won by Pakistan and the enemies have been defeated,” said Shehbaz.

He said that during the matches, the whole nation displayed national unity fervently, and added that nations moved forward with hard work, commitment and honesty and the Pakistani nation too will be strengthened by following these principles.

“The nation has fully exhibited unity and cohesion and the PSL matches have written a new history,” concluded CM Shehbaz.
