ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat discussed and unanimously approved the Services Tribunal (Amendment) Bill, 2017, whereas discussion on the Capital Development Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2018 was deferred till its next meeting.
The meeting of the NA committee was held under the chairmanship of lawmaker Rana Muhammad Hayat Khan at Parliament House on Monday.
The committee directed Pakistan Baitul Mal (PBM) to take stringent measures to ensure the distribution of Ramadan package to the needy in the coming month of Ramadan. The committee was apprised that PBM distributed 50 thousand Ramadan packages containing food items to the destitute throughout the country and the number would be enhanced in the coming Ramadan.
The committee discussed and unanimously approved the Services Tribunal (Amendment) Bill, 2017, whereas discussion on the Capital Development Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2018 was deferred till its next meeting.
The committee disposed of the Pakistan Baitul Mal (Amendment) Bill, 2017 moved by lawmaker Muhammad Muzammil Qureshi, terming it a non-feasible legislative proposal and directed Establishment Division and Federal Employees Benevolent Fund and Group Insurance Organization (FEBF & GI) to conduct a study to evaluate the financial impact in case the committee recommended the legislative proposal of lawmaker Dr Nighat Shakeel Khan to amend the FEBF & GI (Amendment) Bill.
The committee directed the cabinet division to carry out comparative study on the Pakistan Rights of Persons with Disability Bill, 2017 moved by lawmaker Shaista Pervez and the legislative proposal prepared by the government and to present the same before the committee in its next meeting.
The committee directed the Capital Administration & Development Division to conduct an inquiry on the issue of harassment of PIERA staff by chairman and member academics and present its report before the committee in its next meeting.
