Gen Bajwa discusses defence cooperation during Brunei visit

RAWALPINDI: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa met the leadership of Brunei Darussalam during an official visit to the country.

According to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement issued on Monday, General Bajwa met sultan of Brunei Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muizzaddin Waddaulah.

“Both the leaders held a discussion on areas of cooperation, including defence cooperation,” the statement added.

“COAS also met Deputy Defence Minister Major General (r) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Mohd Yussof.”

Later, Bajwa met the military leadership of the country, including commanders of Brunei’s land and air forces, the ISPR added. Matters of mutual interest, including training and security cooperation, also came under discussion.

The political and military leadership of Brunei acknowledged Pakistan’s achievements in its fight against terrorism and efforts for regional peace and stability.
