KARACHI: An accountability court on Monday granted an exemption to former petroleum minister and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Dr Asim Hussain from appearing in court in a corruption case of Rs462 billion.
During the hearing, Ather Hussain and others appeared before the court. Counsel for Dr Asim moved an application in the court requesting exemption of his client from appearing in the court, saying that Dr Asim was currently out of the country to receive medical treatment.
The court accepted Dr Asim’s plea for exemption from attending court proceedings. However, a witness of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), namely Asad Jokhiyo, was presented before the court during the hearing.
The court adjourned the hearing till April 3 after the witness could not produce original documents in the court.
