LONDON: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Sunday that the sincere efforts of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government to reduce the energy crisis had proved productive, adding that the completion of power projects yielding thousands of megawatts had pulled Pakistan out of the darkness.

While addressing to a delegation of the PML-N in London, he said that his party eliminated the power outages forever, stating, “By overcoming the energy crisis, Pakistan will be economically strong which will help in eradicating poverty, ignorance and unemployment as the nation will always remember this service and historical act of the PML-N.”

Mentioning the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he called it the emblem of the eternal friendship between Pakistan and China. The Punjab CM said that it is a great plan for the development and prosperity of Pakistan.

He maintained that the CPEC would truly be a game changer. “[CPEC] will not only be profitable for Pakistan but also for the whole region.”

“CPEC has opened the doors of foreign investment in Pakistan and its projects will also assist people from Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, along with the other four provinces,” he added.

Shehbaz said that the CPEC projects would change the destiny of the country. He stressed that its rapid and transparent completion would surprise the whole world. He added that the Chinese investment worth billions of rupees had created vast employment opportunities for the people of the country.

He asserted, “Enormous projects of energy, infrastructure and industrial cooperation are incorporated in CPEC which are moving forward swiftly. Energy projects have been completed in Pakistan under CPEC.”

The chief minister said that China had invested USD 36 billion in the energy projects which articulated their confidence in the country’s leadership and the policies of the PML-N. He hoped that the CPEC would start a new era of economic and social development. “Pakistan will become the central hub for commercial and economic activities,” he said.

“Due to the solid economic policies of the PML-N, the country is moving on the path of development as our government has cultivated the culture of transparency, merit, standard and timely completion of development projects in the country.”

Talking further about the CPEC plan, he said that it would alter the mode of the history. Shehbaz maintained that his party would not allow any conspiracy to succeed against the CPEC, adding that the adversaries of the CPEC were actually the enemies of the country.

The Punjab CM said that the PML-N had inscribed a new history by ensuring the transparency and reliable use of resources. “Even the international institutes acknowledge the transparency in the development projects of the government,” he claimed. He added that the development strategy of the PML-N was proving fruitful and the completion of the projects was giving a sense of relief to the people.

He said that the PML-N was committed to making Punjab an ideal province in terms of education and health. “PML-N government holds the honour of allocating a record budget for the education and health sector,” he claimed.

Shehbaz told the PML-N leaders that the performance of the Punjab province in the fields of education, health and other sectors was applauded within the country and by the foreign institutions.
