ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that parliamentary board of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is the body which decides the distribution of party tickets for the elections.

In a statement by PM House, it is said that party elections are decided after a proper process of consultation.

The premier has earlier stated in an interview that party’s parliamentary board is the relevant body for issuing the tickets and it is not the decision of one man.

The statement came after recent comments by PML-N leader Pervaiz Rasheed against disgruntled party leader Chaudhary Nisar.

According to media reports, Rasheed stated that the party will not give the ticket to Nisar because of his beliefs which are not in accordance with party policy.

On Thursday, former interior minister criticised the politics of Maryam Nawaz stating that her “sharp tongue” is taking the party towards a dead end.

Nisar, one of the oldest leaders of PML-N, was reacting to statements given by party supremo Nawaz and his daughter Maryam Nawaz.

As per reports, the rift between Nisar and party leadership emerged after former was not in favour of party policy over Supreme Court’s Panama Paper verdict of July 28.

He stopped the leadership from confronting with the judiciary and other state institutes.
